Payment and Reimbursement for Services:
Payment of hospice care is different than other types of payment for medical care, in that the hospice provider is paid per day. Medicare Part A calculated the per diem rate for each county based on the average cost to provide hospice in that region. The reimbursement rate is calculated on an annual basis. So the reimbursement for hospice in the California may be higher or lower than the rate in Utah. Hospice is the only service covered by Medicare Part A that is paid on a per diem basis.
Hearts for Hospice care is covered 100% by Medicare Part A with no out of pocket cost to the individual or family.
Hearts for hospices also accept private insurance for those individuals who are not covered by the Medicare Part A benefit. An individual can contact Hearts for hospice to find out if we are contracted provider for the individual’s plan.
